This central location on the ship is home to the famous Martini Bar, along with the World Class Bar and Craft Social Bar. There's also a small stage for live musicians to perform and a grand piano. Every nook and cranny onboard Celebrity Beyond feels intentional - we've truly never seen a ship more modern and beautiful. There's also plenty of greenery incorporated throughout Celebrity Beyond. After dropping off our luggage, we wandered around a few decks and stumbled upon the Eden restaurant. We were welcomed with a myriad of plants as we walked into the restaurant.
The Eden Concept Has Come Into Its Own, Both In Food and Entertainment
As an adult with no children, it checks all the boxes for me, as the award-winning ship has a lot to offer from dining to entertainment and ship design. Finally, the price coupled with the interesting itinerary options to Europe makes this the top choice for me. More than one dozen restaurants are included onboard the brand-new ship, including fan favorites like Guy’s Burger Joint, Shaq’s Big Chicken, BlueIguana Cantina, Coastal Slice, and Guy’s Pig and Anchor Smokehouse.
Celebrity Apex
Norwegian Viva is similar in terms of design, as the ship has a cozy ambiance with a very modern design. She was also built with a big emphasis on outdoor spaces with many bars and lounges having both indoor and outdoor seating. Norwegian Cruise Line balances adult amenities - like the expansive, serene thermal spa - with its focus on family appeal. Thanks to these investments, you’ll see venues and features on Celebrity Silhouette that first appeared on newer ships, such as The Retreat, which first appeared on Celebrity Edge. The Retreat is a VIP area of the ship with its own private spaces, like its own restaurant and sundeck, which are only open to guests staying in Retreat suites.
Celebrity Ascent
This 22-year-old Celebrity ship offers a more refined, subdued atmosphere compared to the line’s newer ships, which boast flashier features like the Magic Carpet. The Rooftop Terrace area serves as a restaurant, bar, and outdoor movie theater, complete with cozy furnishings coupled with mouthwatering bites and sips. Meanwhile, the adults-only Persian Garden area in the spa is ideal for wellness-seeking cruisers.
Entertainment
The plush loungers adorned with pillows and towels were so welcoming, I would have loved to take a nap if I wasn't scrambling to take as many pictures as possible during our 2-night media cruise. On a brighter note, we made our way to the top deck while looking for the Oceanview Cafe buffet for lunch. The Solarium is a signature venue on both Celebrity and Royal Caribbean ships.

The highlight for anyone booking a Sky Suite or higher is The Retreat, which has an extra deck of seating on Celebrity Beyond. Suite guests will notice the change in Luminae, which now stretches across the front of the ship, adding better views. Luminae has its main entrance tucked inside The Retreat, which gives the restaurant a more private and exclusive feel. Connected to the Grand Plaza is the top table of culinary excellence at sea, the new, intimate 50-seat restaurant by world-renowned chef Daniel Boulud. Aptly named Le Voyage, travel is the inspiration for the globally inspired flavors within, designed to transport guests to the very places that inspire the Michelin-rated chef. Complementing the menu, world-class sommeliers will pair the perfect wine with every dish from Celebrity Cruises' "most awarded" wine collection at sea.

That said, while these new ships are flashier and more luxurious, that doesn’t make them a perfect fit for every cruiser out there. If you prefer fewer crowds and are willing to give up some dining and suite options to get that more intimate environment, you may prefer one of Celebrity’s older — but still updated — ships. This class premiered in 2018 with Celebrity Edge and it’s a class that Celebrity is still building out. The next Edge-class ship, Celebrity Apex debuted in 2020 and Celebrity Beyond debuted in 2022, with two more ships slated to join the class later.

Celebrity Cruise Ships: Newest to Oldest
It’s undoubtedly exciting to see the latest and greatest that a cruise line has to offer. For example, The Lawn Club was introduced and quickly became a staple throughout Celebrity Cruises’ ships. The ship also featured a unique form of entertainment that soon spread to other ships in the fleet — the Hot Glass Show, which was developed via a partnership with The Corning Museum of Glass. Other notable features included a 12-deck-tall atrium and a large theater that could fit 1,400 people. This cruise ship offered brand-new types of staterooms for the cruise line, such as the Infinite Veranda, which gives cruisers a unique take on the traditional balcony stateroom, for blurred lines between the indoors and outdoors.
Those who are looking for a smaller, more intimate cruise ship will want to book Norwegian Viva or Celebrity Ascent. Those sailing with kids should learn more about Norwegian Viva, while adults, couples, and older travelers will appreciate the elevated experience of Celebrity Ascent. In my experience, Norwegian Viva felt the most crowded of any of these ships. If you’re someone who loves to cruise on the bigger mega ships that rival floating cities, you’ll want to choose Icon of the Seas or Carnival Jubilee.
After the Caribbean season, from December to April, the Celebrity Ascent will cross the Atlantic and begin its sailings in Europe for the summer of 2024, specifically in the Mediterranean region. While in Europe for the summer of 2024, Celebrity Ascent will visit countries such as Greece, Italy, Turkey, Spain, and France. Celebrity Cruises is getting closer to introducing its newest ship, the Celebrity Ascent to its fleet, this November. The result is an area that you can easily linger for hours; there's both shade and sun. A small bites menu with $8 dips and flatbreads has been added (although it's just as easy to bring up food from the Oceanview Cafe a few decks below).
